Visit of Professor DULAC to Ukraine

13.05.2013

From April 20 to 26, 2013, Professor Olivier DULAC consulted around fifty children with epilepsy and gave a conference on childhood epilepsy in front of neurologists and neurosurgeons from the Romodanov, PAG, and Pavlov Institutes. These children came from all over Ukraine, but also from Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Thanks to the Vice-President of our Foundation, Professor TSYMBALIUK, now Vice-President of the Ukrainian Academy of Medicine, these consultations were able to take place in the presence of many Ukrainian doctors. Olivier DULAC's knowledge and experience have helped parents who are often in anguish to see their child's situation deteriorate. Considering the chaotic situation of care in Ukraine, this disease is very poorly treated. Only 5% of the children concerned have access to quality care.

We thank Olivier DULAC for his generosity, and we are keeping close contact with him and his team to produce an information brochure in Russian on epilepsy for parents in the coming months. In addition, we are currently preparing for the next visit, as well as the training of Ukrainian neurologists in France.
